The Lozi tribe, found in Zambia, hold an annual celebration known as the Kuomboka. The traditional ceremony is held to mark the movement of the king to higher ground at the beginning of the rains. It's a time of great celebration, and the the ceremony is conducted to the pounding of drums, while the paddlers, resplendent in animal skins, dance and sing.  These canoes play a pivotal role in this ceremony as well as in the day-to-day lives of the Lozi tribe during the rainy season.
