Mélange Barbell Necklace

A chain of alternating o-rings and linked barbells holds its own in a slightly exaggerated scale and thick gauge. Mon père had a set of barbells dedicated to a bench in the garage. They gleamed in a tidy row. The bars were knurled for grip. This shape: a center bar with bookends of discs (weights) or beads (piercing) brings an association of achievement and self-adornment. Suddenly we’ve dropped in at Muscle Beach in Venice, moving and observing with a more bohemian rhythm. “Elle” or “belle” is a feminine play on the word. The earrings cascade, and the necklaces allow the skin to shine through.

Materials: Centered vintage barbell brass chain links meet 5mm antique silver rolo cable chain with a heart lobster clasp in gold finish (featuring a mix or « mélange » of metals). 20.5” matinée at full length, and adjustable to any shorter length (collar, choker, or princess).
