Indonesian Dragon Martaban

19th century, green glazed Martaban jar with relief of dragons and cloud designs around the rim. Used for storage of oils, rice, butter, pickles, wine, water and even holy water and opium. Jars were sealed with wooden lids and were secured to the ship storage areas with ropes woven through the handles.
