Hand-Coiled Storage Jar

17th-18th century, this impressive jar traveled on the Galleon trade route between the 16th and 19th centuries, from Acapulco to Manila. Hand-coiled, it was devotedly sculpted with successive rows of clay. Once used to transport water provisions on Spanish Manila galleons ships, it has voyaged on trips that could take as long as three to four months.
